Groups Around us

It has been said that the single most powerful thing one can do to destroy an organisation and promote disharmony is to create groups which hate each other. You can see such persons everywhere. “The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn” said Ralph Waldo Emerson.  Similarly one person, if left unchecked, can create many disruptive groups within an organisation.

Assume that in your organisation the Hitler who spread mental violence and groupism is dead. What is the guarantee that there will not be another Hitler who will emerge to take the destruction of the credibility of the movement to a higher level?

We have seen that the ‘Hitler-like’ people in any organisation were by themselves powerless. It is the others who empowered them. When such people assume leadership positions, they moved people around them through hatred.

If you want to move a group of people to do something unethical and you tell them, “Those people are the problem; so if we take care of them everything will be okay,” the group may be willing to go to any length to do horrible deeds. The more people are revved up with hatred, they quicker they act.

If you create an enemy for your followers, you can have them fighting and dying to please you. This is such a simple trick to which many noble organisations have fallen for again and again. It is happening even today in communities, corporate bodies and even service organisations are not spared.

When you create an enemy for your followers, even if it is an invisible enemy or someone they have never seen or known, people will go into fear and get a feeling that they should protect themselves or something their leader wants and these so-called peace-loving sensible people will do anything to disrupt peace and harmony without hesitation. This was the lesson taught by Hitler.

People forget such dictators, so the whole mistake is repeated again very soon. Those who stand by dictators who are the destroyers of high ideals are always well educated people – doctors, scientists, engineers, accountants and even management experts.

People who create groups and destroy the fabric of a nation or an organisation know that human intelligence can be easily hijacked by simply stirring an emotion. These people who create hate-groups know that it is easy to destroy whomsoever they want to oppose by planting certain ideas or some philosophy in the minds of their gullible followers.

The intention to do bad to others is present in many people. But many of them are powerless. Those who have dream of usurping all that is around them do not hesitate to grab every opportunity that comes their way or even create situations that will promote their greed. When they succeed in one single disruptive act, they get the confidence that they can indulge frequently in many more treacherous acts. The failure to curb such persons will ultimately lead to the total destruction of the organisation or the nation. This is what history has shown us again and again.

It does not matter how wealthy the person is or what position he holds in the society. As long as they do not carry morality within themselves it does not matter how many scriptures they read or how much money they donate. They will always find ways to do the cruelest possible things.
