EACH ONE TEACH ONE

Literacy It is considered as a lifelong process of learning that enables people to achieve their goals, expand their knowledge and potential, and fully participate in their communities and wider society.
The above mentioned skills are essential for human beings to understand the world around them, to gain knowledge, to listen and learn from others and to communicate to others their thoughts and views.

Literacy is an important part of human upbringing. A literate person is more likely to gain knowledge and information from written sources such as books, letters, and other texts, and to act on that knowledge in order to live a better life in society.

Those who are literate are more capable of managing their day- to-day affairs by making more appropriate and informed decisions for themselves and for others. Those who are illiterate normally struggle to complete basic tasks and find themselves on the losing end of social life.

At the time of India’s independence the literacy rate was a dismal 18%. After several years of reforms and new policies in the field of literacy India has gained great growth in literacy. Yet, we need to keep in mind that we have a long way to go to make our country 100% literate.

We need to remember that only greater literary skills can open the doors of more and more educational, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to the people of our country. As we celebrate the International Literacy Day on September 8 every year, highlighting the importance of literacy, let us resolve to make our country fully literate.
