On International Women's Day, while we celebrate the achievements of women, I often find myself reflecting on the reality around us. In many ways, we still live in a male-dominated society.
Women today walk shoulder to shoulder with men and have proved their capability in every field. Yet, on many occasions they still have to compromise, their efforts are sometimes overlooked, and their voices are not always given the importance they deserve. The situation in many of our villages is even more challenging, where opportunities and support for women can be limited.
If we truly wish to celebrate this day meaningfully, it should inspire us to act. As Rotarians, we have the ability to initiate projects that support education, health, dignity, and economic independence for women.
Improving the lives of women is not just about justice — it strengthens families, communities, and society as a whole. Perhaps the best way to honour women today is to commit ourselves to creating more opportunities for them tomorrow.
