Message on the 62nd Charter Night of Rotary Club of Mulund

Home Messages Message on the 62nd Charter Night of Rotary Club of Mulund

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Though I am presently in the United States and unable to join you in person, my heart is very much with all of you as we celebrate another memorable Charter Night of our beloved Rotary Club of Mulund.

On this auspicious occasion, I extend my warmest congratulations to President Vishal, the Board of Directors, the Trustees, and every member of our club—past and present.

Charter Night is not merely a celebration of another year gone by; it is a day that reminds us of our proud heritage, our enduring values, and our collective commitment to Service Above Self.

Since its charter in 1964, Rotary Club of Mulund has built an enviable legacy of service. For more than six decades, generations of Rotarians have worked tirelessly to improve lives in and around Mulund and beyond.

Among our most cherished accomplishments is the establishment of our school for hearing and speech-impaired children, which has been serving society for over five decades. We have consistently recognized deserving students, teachers, and community service providers, encouraged excellence, supported healthcare initiatives across Maharashtra and beyond, worked to improve the environment in slums with our Anganwadi project and undertaken countless projects that have touched thousands of lives.

The club has also had the distinction of producing three Rotary leaders who went on to serve Rotary at the highest levels in the district .

Such achievements are a testament to the vision, dedication, and leadership of all our Past Presidents.

On this special day, I offer my respectful salutations and gratitude to each one of them for laying the strong foundation upon which our club stands today.

In recent years, our loan scholarship program for deserving and underprivileged students pursuing higher education has earned admiration throughout the Rotary world. My sincere appreciation goes to PP Sudhir Joshi and all those associated with this transformative initiative, which continues to change lives through the power of education.

The year now drawing to a close has been truly exceptional. Under the dynamic and energetic leadership of President Vishal, our club has scaled new heights. Contributions through VLS have reached unprecedented levels, while a new avenue—Sports—has been successfully added to our service portfolio.

Our contributions to The Rotary Foundation have touched an all-time high, and we have added an AKS member thanks to the dedication and commitment of Rtn. Punit Thakkar.

Equally noteworthy has been the launch of the Cervical Cancer Awareness, Vaccination and Screening Project. Under this initiative we have created awareness and opened new avenues for preventive healthcare among underprivileged sections of society.

Alongside this, our Pediatric Heart Surgery Project continues to be a shining example of Rotary service in action. By the end of June, more than 750 underprivileged children would have benefited from this life-changing initiative, receiving not only medical treatment but also the priceless gift of a healthier and brighter future.

The installation of numerous water coolers in schools and several other impactful projects further demonstrate the vibrancy and commitment of our club.

These achievements have not happened by chance. They are the result of inspired leadership, dedicated teamwork, and the unwavering commitment of our members. My heartfelt compliments to President Vishal, the Board of Directors, the Trustees, committee chairpersons, and every Rotarian who contributed to making this year such an outstanding success.

I would also like to place on record my sincere appreciation for Anupama, whose quiet strength and constant support have been a significant factor behind President Vishal’s successful year. She was always there whenever needed, ensuring that every activity and event was executed smoothly. While she fulfilled every expectation one could have from a President’s spouse with grace and dedication, what makes her contribution even more special is that she did so not merely as a spouse but as a committed Rotarian in her own right. Together, Vishal and Anupama have set a wonderful example of Rotary partnership, fellowship, and service.

We are also fortunate to have among us many large-hearted Rotarians whose generosity enables us to expand our service and reach those who need our help the most. Their selfless contributions make our task of doing good in the world easier and more impactful. They truly exemplify the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self.

As we prepare for another chapter in our journey, leadership will soon pass into the capable hands of President-elect Nutan Dhulla. I am confident that with her energy, vision, and enthusiasm, she will not only uphold the proud traditions of our club but also introduce new ideas, create fresh opportunities, and lead Rotary Club of Mulund to even greater heights.

The story of Rotary Club of Mulund is not merely the story of projects completed or funds raised; it is the story of generations of Rotarians who chose to place Service Above Self above self-interest and, in doing so, transformed countless lives. The strength of our club lies not only in what we have achieved but also in the values we have preserved and passed on from one generation to the next.

As we celebrate this Charter Night, let us honour our past, take pride in our present, and look forward with confidence to an even brighter future. May Rotary Club of Mulund continue to grow in strength, service, fellowship, and impact for many years to come.

Once again, I congratulate every member of Rotary Club of Mulund—past and present—for their invaluable contribution in building this remarkable institution. I also extend my best wishes to all incoming leaders and express the hope that they will take our club to even greater heights than those achieved by previous generations.

Happy Charter Night to one and all.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Ashok Mahajan
