Onam: A Celebration of Giving, Compassion and Service
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
The festival of Onam reminds us of the legendary King Mahabali, who is remembered not for his power or wealth, but for his humility, generosity, and dedication towards the happiness and well-being of his people.
The greatest tribute we can pay to the spirit of Mahabali is by embracing the joy of giving and serving those who need us the most.
As Rotarians, we are blessed with an opportunity to transform lives through The Rotary Foundation. Every contribution we make helps create a better world through its seven areas of focus:
Promoting Peace and Conflict Prevention Fighting Disease and Improving Health Providing Clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Saving Mothers and Children Supporting Education and Literacy Helping Communities Develop Economically Protecting the Environment A small contribution from each Rotarian, when combined together, becomes a powerful force of hope and humanity. It enables life-saving surgeries for children, supports education, provides clean water, fights diseases, and brings dignity to communities across the globe.
This Onam, let us celebrate abundance by sharing it. Let us follow the path shown by Mahabali and strengthen our commitment to “Service Above Self.”
I appeal to every Rotarian to contribute generously to The Rotary Foundation and become a partner in creating a healthier, more peaceful, and sustainable world.
The true celebration of Onam lies not only in the joy we receive, but in the lives we brighten through our giving.
With warm regards, Rtn. Ashok Mahajan
