Serve with Love

Home Messages Serve with Love

SERVE WITH LOVE Service is of paramount importance to Rotarians. However, equally important, if not more, is compassion. Small steps of service suf- fused with compassion make Rotary an organization of men and women steeped in love and tenderness. Acts of loving help have im- pressive manifestations of our tendemess and our desire to be present for others to be available to others- makes Rotary an organiza- tion acceptable, dependable and amenable. Loving kindness lights up the life of the needy and this gentle, glowing, non-flickering light expels some of the darkness the pervades the lives of the un-fortunates. When we meet our friends, we greet them with Good Day . When you smile and say Namaste to a person who is bent double with problems, it will create an atmosphere of hope, faith and love. We distribute the thought A friend in need"to those who seek help. We not only generate a glow in the hearts of the needy but it also creates a glow within us a glow of satisfaction a glow of some achieve- ment - a glow of having met the tenets of Rotary. If we, therefore, approach service with kindness, love and sincerity, even failures will be accepted and not resented. When we succeed we produce reverence and gratitude. We don't have to seek God for bestowing His grace. We can create it by our service acts. Our acts of service reverberate all around and spread by virtue of being connected with the needy. A satisfied section of our community can echo its happiness to others around. We are recognized as custodians of the well being of the needy. We then, do not need any public relations. Our services become our public relations. That's service! ASHOK MAHAJAN Director, Rotary International (2007-09) Trustee, The Rotary Foundation (2009-13)
