SHAKE HANDS WITH SERVICE Service s an act of personal involvement. It is the result of an innate desire to give a little back to the society that has supported us - that has given us what we possess. Service is not due to what happens to us. It is due to what happens with us The riches we enjoy are due to others who have made it possible. Returning a part of what we have to the community is not only our duty but also our obligation. There seems to be of some value to Rotarians to observe the needy at close quarters. The pain of others should generate pain in us ~ pain which is painful enough to stimulate compassion. Rotary makes it obligatory for Rotarians to give their hands to the needy. These hands may not necessarily be full of cash. They may be just the support the community needs from us. These hands can give solace, hope support and even encouragement to fight the problem together Itis true that some needs can not be met with by Rotary but its mere presence its concern for the have-nots and its supportive role can make Rotary welcome in all these homes that need some helping hands to wipe tears or hold on to for support. Rotary shakes hands with Service day in and day out and our reason to be existent in communities is only because we care and help.
