Looking for New Members TEvery year thousands of man hours and enormous amounts of money are spent on membership development seminars in every Rotary district. Speaker ater speaker dwell heavily on how extra members for the club can bring this benefit or that. But no one has told the audience on what to look for in a person while inviting him to be a Rotary member. 1 believe that the most important quality that a person should have for becoming a Rotarian is simplicty and contentment, These two parameters may be difficult to identity butts worth the time and effort spent for when you induct people with these two inbuilt qualities they willbe Rotarians forever Any other wealth such as money and social status a person has is just on loan and they must give all back sooner or later. So, if clubs induct members who have borrowed wealth how can they be expected to continue as Rotarians who believe in service: above self? Every person is bom with true wealth. When people reaize their inherent wealth they do not develop ego and try to grasp more wealth. When they fal to realize their true wealth, they go about despoiling the earth corrupting relationships, and twisting societies into grotesque forms that promote needless suffering for themselves, others, and the earth atarge. Realizing true wealth leads to personal, interpersonal, an transpersonal fufiment The honest truth about dishonesty betrayal of Rotary's ideals- is seen while inviting people with the credentials that do not fit into Rotary frame of service. In the anxiety to win a prize or recognition the club and district leaders cross the fine of honesty, break the code of conduct and rules and create exceptions to every rule. No wonder membership declines when values get continuously eroded Simplicity and contentment coupled with a sincere desir to serve are the things that we should see in people whileinviting theminto our fold. Ae these ite things?
