War Is Not the Answer – A Rotarian’s Plea for Peace

Home Messages War Is Not the Answer – A Rotarian’s Plea for Peace

There is talk in the air that an Indo-Pak war might be on the cards. But as a Rotarian, I see things differently. I firmly believe that war is not, and can never be, the solution to our problems. Instead, we must channel our energy and efforts into building peace through sincere and meaningful dialogue.

This belief is not just personal it is the result of 52 years of learning and living the values of Rotary. While our motto is Service Above Self. our ultimate mission goes even deeper: to help achieve lasting world peace.

T have seen the price of war up close. My own brother served in the 1965 and 1971 wars, and I know firsthand the emotional and psychological toll it took on our family and countless others. Behind every fallen soldier is a grieving mother, a broken home, a child who will grow up with questions no one can answer.

If a war were to break out, the consequences would be devastating hundreds of soldiers would lose their lives, millions of civilians would suffer, economies would be disrupted, and in the end, the core issues would likely remain unresolved.

This isn t a message of discouragement, but a reflection of my deepest feelings. I know many may not agree with me, and that's okay. But I trust in the wisdom of our Honorable Prime Minister he surely has a broader vision and a deeper strategy in mind, and I believe he will act in the best interest of the nation and its people.

Let us remember: real peace cannot be achieved through violence. It is only through understanding, compassion, and persistent efforts towards dialogue that lasting harmony can be established.
