It is both a privilege and a deeply emotional moment for me, as a Rotarian from India, to stand here today and join you in honoring an extraordinary leader — our dear friend from Kathmandu — on his election as Director of Rotary International for the year 2027–29.

For the first time, Nepal — this beautiful Himalayan nation — will have its representative in Basu Dev Golyan , at this coveted global position.
From the serene valleys of Kathmandu to the international corridors of Rotary leadership, this journey is nothing short of inspirational.
Coming from a relatively small country in terms of Rotary membership and global representation, reaching such a distinguished office requires extraordinary credibility, unwavering commitment, and the highest level of trust from the Rotary world.
His election by a very high margin speaks volumes. It reflects not only his capability but also the deep respect he commands across borders.
As Rotarians from India, we feel equally proud.
In Rotary, geography may define our districts, but service unites our hearts. South Asia celebrates together. When Nepal rises, we all rise.
